As the season reaches mid-July, TC is getting busy with racing. Last weekend began at Stafford on Friday night with a 40-lap SK Modified feature. Teddy lined up 11th on the starting grid and worked his way forward. By the mid-point of the race TC was into the top-five but was battling a loose racecar. He pitted for adjustments but the #13 SK was still too loose and he eventually had to settle for a sixth place finish.
“We started out pretty good but before long the car got wicked loose,” explained Teddy. “We pitted to make adjustments but it wasn’t any better. All we could do is ride it out and get the best finish possible. Sixth isn’t a great night but it was good enough to take over the point lead so we’re happy with that.”
On Saturday TC and the Eddie Whelen #36 Modified team headed west to Spencer Speedway in Upstate New York for a 100-lap NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event. It was the first visit to Spencer for the Tour since September of 1994, when TC finished fourth driving for Scott Goodspeed. On Saturday he fought an ill-handling racecar to run in the top-ten but was forced out of the race in the closing laps to finish a disappointing 19th.
On Wednesday night, July 16, Teddy teamed up with the Brady Bunch Racing team to compete in the Viveiros Insurance 4th Annual Open Wheel Modified Madness program at Seekonk Speedway. He qualified for the feature with a fourth place finish in the second heat race. He lined up eleventh for the 100-lap main and patiently worked his way forward, but was fighting a racecar that was too tight up off the corners. He pitted for adjustments but the Brady #80 was no better and in the end he was forced to settle for an eighth place finish.
This Friday night TC returns to Stafford with the #13 SK. The night’s 40-lap feature will be a prime tune-up for the 5th Annual CARQUEST Auto Parts SK 150 the following week. On Saturday night Teddy will head north to All-Star Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire to drive for Maine car owner Jay Cushman in a program of triple 50-lap features for the Super Late Models.
