Thursday the Modifieds took to the track at New Smyrna, practicing for the upcoming 37th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. It marked the debut of the brand new Brady Bunch #00, and TC was very pleased with the results.
“The car really went very well for the first time on the track,” he reported. “We were decent right out of the box. Joe and the crew changed a few things and in the final practice we were quick. We’re going to make some changes to the front-end tomorrow morning and I think that will make a big difference. The TEC motor was really strong. I think when we start racing for real tomorrow night we’re going to be very competitive.”
The turnout of actual Modifieds was smaller than in past years. Other drivers on hand besides TC were Tim Arre in the Bear Motorsports #14, George Kent in the #26, Eddie Flemke in the #79, J.R. Bertuccio with a pair of #2’s, Jim Willis in a tandem of #62’s, defending World Series champ Rob Summers in the Ben Dodge #36, George Bock in twin #29’s, Dan Meservey, Jr. in the #1, Donny Lia in the #18, Chuck Steuer in the #11, Steve Whitt in the #06, Tom White in the #46 and Steve Goodale in the #50.
The Series kicks off tonight with a 25-lap feature for the Mods. Check back here tomorrow for a full report.
